At the bottom you will see the invitation to the opening of our exhibition in Vietnam. One of
the interesting participating Vietnamese artists is Vu Hong Nguyen. I myself saw his
work in the gallery Auco in Ha Noi, but I did not have to travel as far as his work can
also be seen in the Netherlands in the
Circle Art Next galerie.in Diepenveen where they have a fantastic range of
Vietnamese art.. So for those who are not able to be at the opening in HCMC ... Diepenveen
is a
worthy alternative.
Here's how the gallery Nguyen met.
Ngyuyen is an artist from Hanoi, who translated the traditional technique
of lacquerpainting in a modern way .
It is up to everyone's imagination what you see in the colorful images of
the lacquerpaintings . Time and space are gone and made ??place to
dream .
We, Karin Nikkessen and Arne Keuning of Circle Art gallery Next made
??an art trip to Vietnam where we met the artist Vu Hong Nguyen .
The acquaintance with Nguyen in his studio was a meeting between '
East meets West' . Among the artworks we drank wine and ate all kinds
of special Vietnamese snacks . We sat on the floor in a beautiful
garment and were surrounded by the artworks . Nguyen showed the
material he's using for his work. Beautiful pure pigments , broken shells
of duck eggs , gold leaf , etc. The alsp visit the workspace where it was
sanded. Sometimes in a traditional way by hand, sometimes the artist
also used sanders .
The funny thing was that the music we heard in the background was a
kind of sky radio. A little alienating in this area. But given the fact that
Vietnam has been dominated by France and we still can see various
elements of it in Ha Noi, we can understand the Western influence..
Nguyen's work is exhibited mainly in Asia . We were so impressed and
enthusiastic about his work that we do exhibit some of them at the
gallery in Diepenveen and at the gallery in Groenlo, to our everyday
pleasure.
Visitors in our gallery are allowed to touch the works of Nguyen carefully
to explore the material. They can have a look into his book and
daydream with a cup of tea .............. It is always a personal experience .
We 'd love to hear what you think .

As I fly in space like a migratory bird, I can see from high above vast fields,
winding rivers, forest sand hills, mountains and endless paths reaching beyond
the horizon. All at once, the picturesque of the nature emerges unexpectedly,
grand and infinite. The source of life down below is like a migration map for
migratory birds.
The source of life is so immense, yet so close. Like a
breath, finely touching the unreal. Like groundwater
flowing quietly and unhurriedly. Like trunks
transmitting sap to its branches and leaves. Like
pulses of a mother-to-be cherishing her unborn child.
